Allie Merrick: Thursday evening poetry performance

Literary Life is pleased to have hosted Allie Merrick for our second Third Thursday event (19 February 2009).  Allie charmingly engaged the small audience by performing an ample amount of original poetry lit with “vivid verses” and a unique singularity that successfully conveys the importance of appreciating the moment; the powerful pinning of each word communicates her passion for the spoken word and literature in general.  Unfortunately, the turnout was somewhat smaller than anticipated, but those who did attend were treated to Allie’s creative way with words through her fluidly entertaining performance; one couldn’t help to acknowledge that there is one certainty- Now.  In such an intimate setting audience members were able to ask any sort of questions that would result in Allie’s delivering a well-thought answer, most likely the detailed explanation yielded an execution of a poem whether an original or surprisingly one by Dr. Seuss.  We look forward to our next Third Thursday presenting Grand Rapids Poet Laureate Rodney Torreson.
