4TH ANNUAL POETRY CONTEST AT LITLIFE
Call for Submissions: January 1 - February 29, 2012
We’re excited to announce that we’re sponsoring a 4th Annual Poetry Contest here at LitLife! We’ve read some amazing poetry submissions in the past, published a few wonderful chapbook anthologies, and hosted an equal amount of champagne celebrations for contest participants at the conclusion of National Poetry Month. We can’t wait to start it all over again! So, beginning on 1/1/2012, you may submit up to two (per poet) original, unpublished poems in any style or length. Simultaneous submissions are accepted so long as we are notified immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Entries must be sent digitally, either in the body of an email or attached as a .doc file, sent to: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Also, we ask the poem(s) be typed and printed and sent to the bookstore along with a cover letter. No information should appear on the poems. The cover letter should include your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address. Each entry should be mailed, along with a $10.00 entry fee, to the following address:
Literary Life Bookstore & More
c/o Poetry Contest

Entries must be postmarked by February 29, 2012. The contest will be judged by Robert Fanning, a professor of English at Central Michigan University. Fanning is the author of two full-length poetry collections: American Prophet (Marick Press, 2009) and The Seed Thieves (Marick Press, 2006), and one chapbook, Old Bright Wheel (Ledge Press, 2003) . A graduate of the University of Michigan and Sarah Lawrence College, Fanning’s writing awards include a Creative Artist Grant from ArtServe Michigan, the Inkwell Poetry Award, and the Foley Poetry Award.

Winners will be announced at a champagne celebration at LitLife on Friday, April 27, at 7pm, which also serves as the release of the chapbook. The winning entries, along with select poems of interest, will be published in Volume 4 of the LitLife Chapbook Poetry Anthology. Look forward to notification of other events during the 2012 National Poetry Month, as well!
