Here’s a little peek at what’s coming up in March

READING AND SIGNING WITH
JACK DRISCOLL
THE WORLD OF A FEW MINUTES AGO
Thursday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m.
13416206.jpg
Jack Driscoll has won several awards for his novels and poetry collections, including the Pushcart Editors’ Book Award, Pushcart Prizes, the PEN/Nelson Algren Fiction Award, the PEN Syndicated Fiction Awards, and the AWP Short Fiction Award for Wanting Only to be Heard.
Jack is currently teaching at Pacific University’s acclaimed low-residency MFA program in Oregon.  He’s got strong Michigan connections, however; he was Writer-in-Residence at Interlochen Arts Academy for 33 years.
In his new collection of stories, The World of a Few Minutes Ago, Jack sets his characters in northern Michigan, the landscape accentuating their longing, hardships and relationships.  His attention to detail and his subtlety of characterization will keep you glued to the page.
We hope you’ll join us for this free event!

Small Houses is a music and poetry project headed up by Flint native Jeremy Quentin.  His low-key and thoughtful approach to both acoustic music and poetry make him perfect for our Singing Conversation Series, which explores the process by which singer-songwriters create their art.  Please join us promptly at 5:00 p.m. for a discussion with Jeremy before his performance at the DAAC!

Thistle Head performs at the Celtic Battle of the Bands
You may have noticed there are quite a few “Irish-centric” titles in our collection here at LitLife.  Well, owner Roni Devlin is proud of her Irish ancestry and is pleased to help you start your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations early with Michigan Celtic band Thistle Head.  As you listen to their lively tunes, you might be inspired to purchase an Irish cookbook or collection of stories or folktales!  We hope to see you!
