EVENTS AT LITLIFE
AUGUST, 2010

LITLIFE SUMMER SALE: Select hardcovers are 30-50% off! Save on quality books while you support your local independent bookstore! We’ve got children’s, young adult, cooking, non-fiction and fiction books on sale now!
SATURDAY, AUG. 7, 11-NOON
First Saturday for Kids! Jennifer will read Meet Wild Boars, written by Meg Rosoff and with hilarious illustrations by Sophie Blackall. The wild boars we will meet are rude and smelly and very badly behaved, but you’ll fall in love with them anyway! This story will appeal to any age, really, but is primarily intended for children from pre-school through third grade.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 10TH, 7:00 p.m.
Join us as Virgil Westdale shares stories from his long life, reads from his book, Blue Skies and Thunder: Farm Boy, Pilot, Inventor, TSA Officer, and World War II Soldier of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team: Memoirs of a Japanese American, and he’ll sign your book, too! Mr. Westdale is a local Renaissance Man! Raised on a small farm here in West Michigan, trained as a pilot (but not allowed to be a fighter pilot during WWII due to his Japanese heritage), part of the platoon that helped free Dachau, educated as an engineer, he has been a soldier, inventor, TSA officer and now, a celebrated author.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 19, 7:00 p.m.
We’re very pleased to share the first novel by Michigan author M.J. Rigg with you! Ms. Rigg will be here to read from and sign her book, Voyage to Muscovy.
It’s 1553 and Captain Nigel Keeling is in charge of a voyage into the uncharted world of the Arctic. There’s excitement, peril, betrayal and battles, along with vivid descriptions of the “dangerous and often fatal wooden world of sixteenth-century seamen.” Voyage to Muscovy is sure to be a hit with anyone who enjoys historical adventure, great sea battles, and a well-told story!
As usual, all of the above events held at the bookstore are FREE and everyone is welcome. For more information, call us at
